If you've made it here today, I want to talk about the blame. That feeling that appears when we eat something we think we “shouldn't” eat. And today I want to tell you something fundamental: no food is worth feeling guilty over.
It doesn't matter if it has more fat, more sugar or more calories. There is no “bad” food in itself. What matters is the relationship we have with food and how it connects us with our emotions and our well-being.
Eating without guilt: reconnect with your emotions
Learning to enjoy without guilt means:
- Listening to your body and your hunger and fullness cues.
- Recognise pleasure as part of the diet, not as a forbidden luxury.
- Reduce anxiety and the feeling of conflict that arises when we eat with fear or guilt.
Remember: pleasure when eating is not the enemy of your health. It is essential for establishing a real balance and a good relationship with food.
Make your favourite recipe, just the way you fancy
If today you feel like preparing your favourite chocolate cake, do it. You don't need “light” or “healthy” versions” to enjoy it. The important thing is allow yourself full enjoyment and reconnect with the satisfaction that cooking and eating what you love gives you.
Every mouthful can be a reminder that food is pleasure, connection and care, not guilt or punishment.
The important thing is that these types of foods do not displace the consumption of others that truly nourish us and allow us to be healthy in the short and long term. Therefore, the key here is to have a balanced and enjoyable diet, leaving room for those foods that bring us pleasure.
Clearly, if you want to look for healthier versions, no problem. The important thing is enjoying what you eat and not eat a substitute dessert that doesn't really satisfy you. Listen to your hunger signals, eat slowly, savour every bite and see that food for what it is: food and not poison or the cause of your weight problem, because the truth is that it isn't.
